Jared Introduces New Custom Design Program – JCK
Jared, the big box store owned by Signet Jewelers, is embracing the bespoke design trend.
The brand is rolling out the Jared Foundry, an ambitious in-store custom design studio that will use technology, including 3D printers, to enable Jared customers to work with store designers to create bespoke jewelry.
The program is currently offered in only 19 of Jared’s more than 200 stores, but there is “more to come,” according to a company statement.
The Jared Foundry was designed as a ‘one stop shop’ or ‘store within a store’, which will allow customers to ‘watch a craftsman resize a ring, put a diamond in a ring, sketch a necklace, present a wax mold for final customer approval, discuss the manufacturing process or provide advice on how to stay within budget, ”the statement said.
The program will allow customers to design their piece with a Jared craftsman.
According to the company statement, the craftsman will discuss “the client’s personality, lifestyle and aesthetics, such as modern, classic, art deco, sculptural, minimalist, etc.”.
Throughout the design process, the craftsman will provide the client with sketches, images and videos to show potential permutations, the release said.
In the statement, Bill Brace, executive vice president of Signet and executive general manager of Jared, said, “People seemingly love to personalize everything these days, and we think now is the time to introduce them to the exhilarating world of the design of fine jewelry. “
He said artisans “would bring customers’ unique visions to life – with as much or as little guidance from our trusted artisans as they want, and on their own terms and budget. … [They can create everything] from extravagant expressions of love with rare cut diamonds to deeply personal reimaginations of family heirlooms.
Jared currently offers his foundry concept in nine states: California, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
