Porsche launches Second Skin service for personalized design

Porsche now allows customers to customize their own Porsches however they choose with a new service called Second Skin. Second Skin is expected to launch in Germany in July. Customers can use an online configurator to choose a design package, and depending on the design, the cost would range from $ 4,500 to $ 6,800. They would be delivered to them straight from the factory with the design they chose. Customers can use the service to completely revamp the appearance of the car and make it more unique while further improving its resale value and providing better paint protection under the design. Typically, this service is performed as part of the aftermarket industry.

Customers have to go online, choose the Porsche model they want to buy, and then go for the foils they prefer. They can also choose to have it delivered already packed or to go to the nearest supplier themselves.

The designs currently available are quite basic and only four Porsche models are available on the online configurator – the Porsche 718 Cayman, the Porsche Boxster and the 992 and 991.2 variants of the Porsche 911. Porsche plans to add its other model. at a later time. The vinyl films that would be provided as part of the service will need to transform the appearance of a car at minimal cost while eliminating the need for repainting and protecting the original factory paint.

Scarves currently available include solid colors, a few striped designs, striking two-tone combinations, and even a collection of Martini-inspired scarves. It is expected that in the future, this service will expand to include non-Porsche models and a growing range of designer wraps.

“As the livery segment is a very fragmented market, we have created a central port of call with ‘Second Skin’ to ensure quality and offer a holistic approach to finding a solution,” said Simon Weiss of Porsche.
